Resolution Starts Here
For many clients, alternative dispute resolution provides benefits that courtroom litigation does not, including privacy, timeliness, and the ability to minimize disruption of your day-to-day business and life. With this understanding, Judge Coley oversees arbitration and mediation with the same candor that he maintained during his tenure on the 74th District Court. His transparent, pragmatic approach enables litigants to reach a fair outcome, in an environment that minimizes costs and delays.
Communication, collaboration, and the ability to maintain a productive atmosphere are the keys to a successful mediation. Even in the most fervent of disagreements, Judge Coley possesses the calm demeanor and objectivity it takes to keep all parties on course for a fair outcome. He consistently and methodically works to maintain a productive environment that enables both parties to arrive at a mutually agreeable conclusion to their case.
Because both parties must abide by the arbitrator’s final decision, it is essential to choose someone who brings not only fairness and impartiality, but also a deep understanding of the law. Judge Coley’s extensive courtroom experience and participation in more than 20,000 hearings give him a firm footing in case law, and deep familiarity with the kinds of complex legal and business issues that often arise in arbitration.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
Mediation and arbitration sessions can be held via Zoom, remotely, at our facility, or at a location convenient to all parties. Typically, engagements are arranged and executed as follows:
- Using this website, a representing attorney schedules a tentative time for an onsite, offsite, or Zoom engagement. Mediation is typically booked as a two-hour, half-day, or full-day session.
- After dates, location, and fee estimates are approved by all parties, the session is confirmed.
- Parties provide all case documentation for review by Judge Coley. All submissions should be completed no later than 3 days before the scheduled engagement, to allow for intensive and thorough review.
- During the engagement, Judge Coley acts as both judge and facilitator, providing honest, unbiased guidance and feedback. Respectful of clients’ time and investment, he strives to move proceedings forward in a manner that is both timely and transparent.
- Arbitration ends with a ruling by the arbitrator, Judge Coley. Mediation ends when both parties arrive at a mutually-agreed-upon settlement. If no agreement is reached through mediation, the session ends. Parties may then elect to arrange arbitration or pursue litigation.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Our onsite facilities consist of private conference spaces that promote focus and collaboration. Complimentary coffee and water are provided, and on-site catering options are available. If you have specific technology or amenity needs, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate any requests.
